Which Door Will You Choose?

John 10:9-10   I am the door; if anyone enters through Me, he will be saved. They will come in and go out and find pasture. 10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.

When Jesus said, “I am the door,” He was stating Eastern custom of shepherds guarding the sheep by acting as a gatekeeper by spending the night lying down across the narrow entrance to the sheepfold. They protected the flock from danger. They would also lead these sheep to green through this door. In Jesus’ statement, “I am the door,” He was declaring His divinity by saying He is the only way to the Father.

The doors that we choose to go through will greatly impact the life we live. Our success often depends on which doors in life we go through. Many doors we’ve already chosen to go through have led to sadness and failure. It’s so important to know which doors to open and which doors need to remain shut and locked. Some of those doorways lead to great blessings and others lead to bondage of the soul. Are you living in bondage to regret and disappointment? We all experience regrets in life. Times where we chose to go through certain doors that led to disappointment and hurt our future and the people closest to us. How can we possibly know which doors to enter and which doors to turn away from?

Matthew 7:7-8      “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.

There is only one door that leads to spiritual freedom. There are many forms of prison. Spiritual, relational, and emotional prisons have become homes to many people. God came so that we could exit out of lives enslaved to grief, guilt, and anxiety. Freedom from these things can only be found in Christ Jesus, so opening the right door is important. Regardless of what kind of prison you’re being held in, Christ gave His life so that you could be free to experience peace and joy in this life and for all of eternity. Jesus isn’t just pointing at the right door, He is the door. Enter and be free.
