Stand Your Post
How have you grown spiritually through the detours in your life?
There are times in life where we can feel like walking away from all our challenges. When the post that God called us to seems too costly to continue. Our Christian journey can hit major detours and delays so how can we prepare for all the difficulties and dead ends along the way? Don’t stand down in troubled times?
Philippians 3:12-14
12 Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. 13 Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, 14 I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.
Maybe it’s been a decade of obedience to a calling, and things still seem awfully quiet upstairs with the Lord. One guy who knows about waiting on the Lord is Noah. It was 120 years of working on the ark in the middle of the desert while being mocked by his community. How many dinners did he and his wife talk about how maybe he heard God wrong, and he was suppose to build a duplex instead. How many times did his kids come home and give him that look of, this is still going on. Noah was committed to the Lord and the post that he had been called to, even though the work seemed impossible.
Has your marriage become filled with challenges and your spouse seems to not appreciate all the things that drew them to you and vice versa? Maybe your health is going in ways that cause you to question God’s goodness. Maybe your walk with the Lord has become stagnant and superficial. Don’t abandon your post. Eventually, Noah and his family were greatly blessed because of his commitment to God’s calling no matter how difficult things had gotten over time. God has a future for you that is worth the present struggle. Don’t give up and miss out on God’s blessings. Then you will hear the Lord say, you have fought the good fight, you have finished the race, you have kept the faith, my faithful beloved.
