Is there anything you believe God wants to do but you’ve let fear and doubt keep you from stepping forward in faith?
Fear and doubt cause us to become complacent or anxious. Either we give into our fears and become a bump on a log, or we live in fear and doubt with restless worry and nervous concern. If we want to get off the sidelines and into the game of purpose and passion, then self-doubt needs to be delt with in the Lord’s strength.
Joshua 1:9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
When we were young, we had an incredible ability to believe in our dreams. Our imaginations ran wild with possibilities, and we knocked down obstacles without hesitation. Unfortunately, age tends to steal our willingness to step out in faith and our imagination is replaced by the “What if’s” of life.
God has plans for your life that require trusting Him. He wants us to live the kind of lives that will require His intervention to be successful. Risk is a part of living a life that honors Him. Doubt causes us to shut down and not get involved in the lives of others.
Courage is not the absence of fear, it’s the willingness to move forward while trusting God’s direction even though we are afraid of what might be ahead of us on an unknown road.
So do not fear, for I am with you;
do not be dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you;
I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
Our protection and comfort come from the Lord, not from neglecting to get involved because of our doubts and fears. Don’t let fear and doubt defuse your passion for life and your willingness to trust God.
