The Power Of Prayer
1 John 5:14-15
This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have what we asked of him.
Prayer isn’t about making selfish requests of God for our current desires; it’s about realigning our will to His. When we desire the things that God desires, we start praying for His will to be done.
Psalm 33:10-11
The Lord foils the plans of the nations;
he thwarts the purposes of the peoples.
11 But the plans of the Lord stand firm forever,
the purposes of his heart through all generations.
If you’ve ever prayed a prayer for more than a decade without an answer, you can start to wonder if your prayers are being heard by the Lord. Satan may be trying to convince you that God isn’t even listening. The truth is God loves to communicate with His children and He is powerful enough to answer our prayers. The will of the Lord is greater than our will. His wisdom is complete, and His love is everlasting. His timing may seem slow, but He never makes a mistake.
What does it mean to ask according to God’s will, as says?
John 14:13-14
13 And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.
Just because we go to our knees in prayer doesn’t mean we get to have whatever we want. God is not a vending machine. We don’t make a wish or select G-4 to get what we want at that moment. God is the creator of everything including time. He is outside of time looking in and able to show us how to join Him on His timeline.
