Struggling With A New Perspective

Struggling With A New Perspective

2 Peter 3:9 says, “The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.”

My oldest son is a certified lifeguard. He told me, the right way to save someone who is drowning in the ocean is to wait for them to stop trying to save themselves. When they stop flailing, put your arm around them from the back and swim back to dry land.

The problem is when you’re the one who’s drowning this may seem like a cruel way to help. From your perspective, it seems like they are just letting you drown.

As many of us are dealing with a new perspective from our homes, unable to go to work, a restaurant or even church we ask ourselves why is God doing nothing? It feels at times like he doesn’t care and is unwilling to help.

When you are choking and gasping and you can’t get a real breath, you want to be saved from your situation instantly.

The scientists are telling us now that more than 100,000 Americans could loose their lives from the Coronavirus. Most of us have friends or family members who have the virus. From our perspective, God can seem uncaring and uninvolved.

God’s perspective is very different from ours. For starters, He is seeing through an eternal lens.

God not only wants to heal, he is able to redeem. He can take what the world and our enemy wants to use to destroy us and he somehow brings eternal blessings through the struggle. He understands because God gave His only Son to suffer and die on the cross to bring eternal life to those who believe. That’s why He has such an unusual perspective and that why we can trust Him during times like these.

When you pray, remember who God is. From your perspective it’s difficult to see His power and character but God can handle whatever you’re experiencing right now.

Matthew 19:26, “Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”

I want to encourage you to get out of the house and go for a prayer walk. Spend some time with a new physical perspective praying for a spiritual understanding of what He sees and what blessings you can receiving through your struggles.

John 9:25b “One thing I do know. I was blind but now I see!”
