Don’t Be Ruled By Anxiety And Fear

Is fear or anxiety keeping you from stepping forward in faith?

Fear and doubt cause us to shut down emotionally, physically, and relationally. Either we give into our fears and become a bump on a log, or we live in fear and doubt with restless worry and nervous concern. If we want to stop being spectators and get into the game of life with purpose and passion, then we need God’s truth, healing, and presence.

Joshua 1:9           Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”

In our youth we had an incredible ability to believe in our dreams. Our imaginations ran wild with possibilities, and we knocked down obstacles without hesitation. Unfortunately, age tends to steal our willingness to step out in faith and our imagination is replaced by the “What if’s” of life.

God wants us to live the kind of lives that will require His intervention to be successful. Risk is a part of living a life that honors our Lord. Doubt causes us to shut down and not get involved in the lives of others. Courage is not the absence of fear, it’s the willingness to move forward while trusting God even though we are afraid of what might be ahead of us.

Isaiah 46:1-5    God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.
Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam
    and the mountains quake with their surging.   There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God,
    the holy place where the Most High dwells.
God is within her, she will not fall;
    God will help her at break of day.

 Our protection and comfort come from the Lord, not from neglecting to get involved because of our doubts and fears. Don’t let fear and doubt defuse your passion for life and your willingness to trust God.
