Comfort Is Not The Goal

Comfort Is Not The Goal

Comfort Is Not The Goal
How has God given you abundant life, even if it’s not an easy life?

John 10:10b
I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.

What does it mean to live life to the fullest? Does it mean healthy,
financially successful, and powerful, or does it mean something much
greater than these temporary goals. We all want to live a meaningful life but
we can’t do that if we miss the purpose of life. People spend billions of
dollars a year trying to increase the quality and length of their lives. Men
and women alike search for ways to hold onto their youth and gain more
and more success. But the saying, “He who dies with the most toys wins”,
is a major con that many people have bought into, only to be left lonely,
guilty, angry, and empty. If we don’t know what we are aiming at we won’t
hit the target no matter how many shots are fired.

How do you try to control your future and your circumstances? What wrong
targets are you aiming at?

Romans 12:1-2
Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer
your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true
and proper worship. 2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be
transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and
approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

If God is all powerful, all knowing, and perfect love, then His will is going to
be much better than anything we can come up with for our future. Would
you rather live like a king for a moment, or live in a perfect kingdom for
eternity as a son or daughter of the God of all creation?
Don’t aim at comfort when God is guiding you towards character. Don’t
conform to the lies and disappointments of this world, but search God’s
word for the purpose He has for you today, and for all of time.
