The Power Of Prayer

The Power Of Prayer

This is one of the few times in God’s word where we get to peek behind the supernatural curtain, where Daniel was given a revelation from God. Without this chapter, and its illumination of the demonic battling forces, we wouldn’t know how important our prayers are, in the unseen world.

Daniel 10:12-13 12
Then he continued, “Do not be afraid, Daniel. Since the first day that you set your mind to gain understanding and to humble yourself before your God, your words were heard, and I have come in response to them. 13 But the prince of the Persian kingdom resisted me twenty-one days. Then Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me, because I was detained there with the king of Persia.

Something delayed Gabriel’s response to Daniels prayers for 21 days. This is an incredible revelation. There is an unseen, spiritual battle that takes place, that impacts what happens in our world. When Gabriel left heaven to deliver the Lord’s answer to Daniel, Satan sent his own Angel of Darkness, the demon who oversaw Persia. This demon was ordered to do whatever it took, to stop God’s plan in Persia from moving forward. Gabriel tells Daniel that Michael was sent to help in the spiritual battle. Gabriel wouldn’t have been able to defeat the Prince of Persia without Michael’s help. And that means that Daniel wouldn’t have ever received the prophecy. But our God is mighty. His will cannot be stopped. Evil isn’t an abstract idea.

Ephesians 6:12-13
For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.

We are in a spiritual battle, and we will be defeated if we try and battle in our own strength. But when we use what God gives us, just like Gabriel was given Michael for the battle, we will be ready to stand our ground, against all evil forces.
