The Beginning Of All Things

The Beginning Of All Things

The Beginning Of All Things
Revelation 21:1-5a

Then I saw “a new heaven and a new earth,” for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. 2 I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. 3 And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. 4 ‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”5 He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!”

We use the term “end times” when we are talking about all the prophetic events that will take place, that we read about in Daniel and Revelation. It’s an accurate assessment of the turmoil and destruction that will take place before the end. But as believers our focus shouldn’t be on the horror and tragedy of the end of earthly kings and kingdoms that cause our minds to be filled with depression, fear, and anxiety. Instead, our focus should be on the beginning of all things. That is, the time that everything written in Daniel and Revelation is leading us towards. The beginning of all things is the time when Jesus is handed the crown of the “New Kingdom”, from God His Father. All the suffering and pain, evil and death, will end and Christ will rule a perfect kingdom that we will enjoy for eternity with those who receive Jesus as their Lord and Savior.

We are advancing toward the beginning of all things. The moment that all history is pointing towards. This is our reason for Joy and peace of mind, amid all the suffering we see around us. History truly is His-story, and all the chaos we see is the messy underside, of the beautiful tapestry of the beginning of all things.
