Colossians 3:8
But now you must also rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips.
How are the relationships with your family, friends, and coworkers? Is there anyone who has experienced your beast within, and is still wounded? The problem with this misuse of emotion is broken relationships usually with the people closest to us. Do you love the power that evolves with your rage, more than blessing those close to you, with your gentleness and love?
Psalm 37:8
Stop being angry! Turn from your rage! Do not lose your temper, it only leads to harm.
When we lose our temper, everyone around us loses. If the goal is just obedience, anger can control others, but at what cost? The result of anger is resentment and alienation. Our loved ones will board the redeye, to fly away as soon as possible unless we are healed by the power of forgiveness. What is at the foundation of your anger? Are you committed to the beast within or would you prefer experiencing peace of mind.
Ephesians 4:30-32
And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. 31 Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. 32 Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.
Our anger creates fear and doubt in others, causing wounds that can last a lifetime. Many people live constantly in and out of anxiety, unable to experience emotional healing. How can you deal with your anger so that it doesn’t break the people in your life and cause them to become what they hate, keeping the cycle of uncontrolled rage spinning on and on and on? Take some time to search your heart. Are there any old wounds that are still festering with rage and malice? Choose to forgive like Jesus forgave you and know a peace that exceeds all social understanding.
