Staying In Step With The Holy Spirit

Staying In Step With The Holy Spirit

When I was a senior in high school, I was meeting regularly with my guidance counselor. I Talked through the next steps I would take to achieve my goals. The Holy Spirt is our Guidance Counselor, and He is very active in communicating with Hs people. It’s time to connect with your guidance counselor for the right path that He has prepared for you.

2 Timothy 3:16-17  All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. 17 God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work.

Often when I’m struggling to know what to do, what path is the right path, I start quoting scripture that I have memorized that the Holy Spirit is putting on my heart. The best way I know to be filled with the Spirit is to be filled with His word. They go hand in hand.

Psalm 27:11  Point me down your highway, God; direct me along a well-lighted street;
    show my enemies whose side you’re on.

We are all familiar with the picture of the guy trying to figure out what he should do. On one side, the devil is tempting him and on the other side the angel is trying to convince him to do what’s right. In reality, it’s the Holy Spirit who guides believers through the challenges of life. What’s the main way the Holy Spirit guides you? Through the word of God. The closer we are to God’s word, the closer we are to Him and His will for us. Nothing is a surprise to God. He knows every step of our journey. When you came to faith in Christ, the Holy Spirit took up residence in you and gave you life. You are no longer, the walking dead, you are alive in Christ. When you fill your mind with the living word, you are hearing directly from God. He knows all the challenges and dangers that are before you and the Holy Spirit will guide your path if you seek out His truth through His word.

What is the Holy Spirit saying to you through these scriptures?
