Social Distancing Together
As we are in our second year of social distancing. Mental, emotional, relational, physical, and spiritual exhaustion is affecting more and more people. I want to encourage all of us not to give into the temptation to cave as a way of dealing with isolation. It looks funny on paper, but we often deal with depression and discouragement by stepping away form others. We are created in the image of God and that means we are highly social beings in need of experiencing the love of God and other people. When we isolate, it’s easy to become self-focused and struggle with hearing God’s truth. This is a time to focus on connecting with God and others, but it will only happen if we are intentional.
I enjoy documentaries about people who hunt for treasure. I’m always amazed at the lengths people will go to, for a chance to discovery a great treasure. People will often spend a fortune to find a treasure, risking life and limb for a chance to find where X marks the spot. What if there was a treasure that wouldn’t rust or decay or be stollen or lost and produced peace? If that kind of treasure existed, wouldn’t you want the map in your hands? What if this treasure could heal our broken spirits and connect us to life’s purpose? Now is the time to go after Gods truth will every available resource we have.
My son, if you accept my words
and store up my commands within you,
2 turning your ear to wisdom
and applying your heart to understanding—
3 indeed, if you call out for insight
and cry aloud for understanding,
4 and if you look for it as for silver
and search for it as for hidden treasure,
5 then you will understand the fear of the Lord
and find the knowledge of God.
Are you struggling with sin, depression, fear, anger or bitterness? What if we came together to seek what God has to say about navigating through these difficult waters? Let’s search God’s word together as if we were searching for a great treasure? Let’s turn our ears to God’s wisdom so we can be mental, emotional, relational, physical, and spiritual whole. When we get our eyes off ourselves and focus on the One who holy and sovereign, we share a bounty that can heal us from the inside out. You can join the adventure of a lifetime by searching God’s word with other treasure hunters.
Are you involved in a bible study or a group that reads through the bible together? Now’s the time to be intentional about seeking a treasure that brings wholeness.
We would love to have you join other sojourners through one of our bible studies or read through the bible groups. Find when and how on our website.
