Luke 17:20-21
Experiencing Freedom Over Darkness (Series)
What is the kingdom of God and does it take place in our eternal future, or is it a present reality to experience now?
Psalms 103:19 “The Lord has established his throne in heaven, and his kingdom rules over all.”
The Kingdom of God means that God’s reign and rule governs all things.
Luke 17:20-21 “Once, on being asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God would come, Jesus replied, “The coming of the kingdom of God is not something that can be observed, 21 nor will people say, ‘Here it is,’ or ‘There it is,’ because the kingdom of God is in your midst.”
Some of the power of the Kingdom of God is available now but not all of it.
The crucial battle against the forces of darkness, against sin and death has been fought and won by Christ our King through his death and resurrection, but the war is not finished.
Satan must be resisted, our battle with sin must be fought, and death must be endured until Christ Jesus comes back and God’s kingdom is completed.
Where should our focus be with the Kingdom of God here and now?
Matthew 24:14 “And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.”
How is God’s kingdom connected to sharing the gospel? Christ the King’s righteousness is already ours by faith and His Spirit is already dwelling in us.
The King’s holiness is already being produced in us and His joy and peace have already been given to us.
Christ the King’s victory over Satan is already ours as we are led by the Word of God.
King Jesus’ power to witness is already available to us for His Glory.
