Pray Before You Push Send!

Pray Before You Push Send!

Online rage is a lot like road rage.

We are the captain of our own area, and no one should dare to challenge our authority. We are so full of ourselves when we take command of our lives that we see differing ideas as a personal attack. If you find yourself getting in online battles, try something new and you might experience a different outcome. Remember, “Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely.” Before push send and launch your missiles into virtual flight, stop, pray, and seek God’s wisdom.
Where do we find safety, security, and peace of mind? Do we seek them by personal effort and strength, or is the Lord our strong fortress?

Proverbs 18:10-13

The name of the Lord is a strong fortress; the godly run to him and are safe. 11 The rich think of their wealth as a strong defense; they imagine it to be a high wall of safety. 12 Haughtiness goes before destruction; humility precedes honor. 13 Spouting off before listening to the facts is both shameful and foolish.

The challenge for the rich and powerful is to try to use their money and power to force their way into happiness and buy their way out of trouble. The challenge for all of us is to be full of ourselves and demand our rights, but remember, a humble spirit will be lifted up and blessed by the Lord.
When we believe that our online presence should be respected and followed by all who engage our virtual kingdom, it’s easy to spout off in anger and offence before we really know the facts. Scripture warns us that treating others like this is foolish and shameful.

Ephesians 4:29 Don’t use foul or abusive language. Let everything you say be good and helpful, so that your words will be an encouragement to those who hear them.

Are your words building others up, or are you bullying others with abusive language so that your personal online kingdom will be worshiped?
