Let Perseverance Finish It’s Work
James 1:2-4

Are there any lessons you have learned in your life when God’s timing is
different than yours? During this time of the Covid-19, it’s hard to be patient
when you’re tired and frustrated. We’re all feeling weary from the madness
of the pandemic. Now that new variants are coming on the scene it can feel
like this season of isolation and face coverings will never end.
Galatians 6:8-9
Those who live only to satisfy their own sinful nature will harvest decay and
death from that sinful nature. But those who live to please the Spirit will
harvest everlasting life from the Spirit. 9 So let’s not get tired of doing what
is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t
give up.

Sometimes in life we are in a hurry when God isn’t. You may feel
discouraged with what feels like no progress. Feelings can be
overwhelming, but that doesn’t make them true. God’s timing is rarely the
same as ours. If we don’t focus on pleasing ourselves, or pleasing others,
but instead, try to keep the perspective of the Holy Spirit when we are tired
of how long things are taking to change, we won’t get bitter because we’re
not getting our own way.
James 1:2-4
Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of
many kinds, 3 because you know that the testing of your faith produces
perseverance. 4 Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be
mature and complete, not lacking anything.

How can anyone in their right mind, consider trials of any kind, pure joy.
God is always on time, and he always has a purpose for what we are going
through. We might start with our faith being tested, but it’s worth it when we
lack nothing, no matter our situation. You might not be where you want to
be, but you’ve made progress and you’re not where you used to be either.
James 5:11a
We give great honor to those who endure under suffering.
In other words, it pays to be patient.
What does God want you to do when you get discouraged with his timing?
