Can wisdom bring healing to our country? by Pastor Matthew
James 1:5
If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God.
Wisdom is a gift from a very generous God, but can anyone get it? Is wisdom different from knowledge?
Colossians 2:2-4
My goal is that they may be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that they may know the mystery of God, namely, Christ, 3 in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. 4 I tell you this so that no one may deceive you by fine-sounding arguments.
We see here that wisdom and knowledge are two different things. Which one do you desire more? Why? Do you actions support that answer?
Knowledge comes from education, while wisdom comes from revelation. To get knowledge, you look nearby, but to get wisdom, you look to Christ. Wisdom is only found in Jesus Christ. If you want God’s wisdom, you need to have faith in Jesus.
Why is wisdom worth pursuing? How can it help you in real life? Knowledge tells you what parenting is, while wisdom guides you in loving your children well. Knowledge tells you about marriage while wisdom transforms your heart so you can love, forgive and bless your spouse. Knowledge can show you what is wrong with our world. Without the guidance of wisdom, knowledge alone leads to actions with harsh authoritative consequences. Wisdom shows you how to bring healing into broken lives and situations through Christ’s truth in love.
Different groups and organizations can help show us what’s wrong with our society. They can inform us of racism and bigotry, but the only solution for humanity is the transformation of the heart which is only found in Christ Jesus. Impossible situations require God sized answers.
Do you believe in Jesus as your Lord and Savior? Then you are equipped in how to bring real change.
Luke 6:27-32
Listen, all of you. Love your enemies. Do good to those who hate you. 28 Pray for the happiness of those who curse you; implore God’s blessing on those who hurt you. 29 “If someone slaps you on one cheek, let him slap the other too! If someone demands your coat, give him your shirt besides. 30 Give what you have to anyone who asks you for it; and when things are taken away from you, don’t worry about getting them back. 31 Treat others as you want them to treat you. 32 “Do you think you deserve credit for merely loving those who love you? Even the godless do that!
Matthew 7:12a
Do for others what you want them to do for you.
1 John 4:7
