Bold And Persistent Prayers
Ephesians 6:18-20
18 Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere. 19 And pray for me, too. Ask God to give me the right words so I can boldly explain God’s mysterious plan that the Good News is for Jews and Gentiles alike. 20 I am in chains now, still preaching this message as God’s ambassador. So pray that I will keep on speaking boldly for him, as I should.
When we don’t hear a response from the Lord why should we keep on praying?
Bold and persistent prayer focuses our attention on what’s important. God doesn’t need me to remind Him of anything, but persistent prayer reminds me of my dependence on Him. When I’m aware of my dependence on God, I turn to Him as a deer keeps turning to the fresh stream. God’s wants us to focus on the Blesser, not the blessing.
Psalm 42:1 As the deer longs for streams of water, so I long for you, O God.
Bold and persistent prayer brings clarity to what we’re praying for. As time continues, we start refining our prayers, and our motives are brought out into the open. Often the answer is not a change in our situation, but a change in us. That’s why our prayers tend to change over time.
Bold and persistent prayer get us to ready to receive Gods answer. So often we pray such small prayers. God wants us living lives that require faith in a powerful God. Sometimes He delays His response to us so that our willingness to risk will lead us into God size answers for God size problems.
Romans 12:2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
Is God wanting you to refine any of your prayers for His purpose for you?
